Basel, Switzerland, is a city of contrasts. Located at the very edge of the country, it has always been poised between regional tradition and global innovation. In 2013, the city launched a design competition for an urban intervention which could showcase Basel’s unique sense of identity.
Eldwin’s winning proposal was inspired by the city’s traditional small fishing huts along the River Rhine. We proposed the construction of several new huts as flexible spaces available for free to the city’s inhabitants to showcase their culture through concerts, exhibitions and workshops. The project was met with wide acclaim and has been widely published in local and national media.
