Eldwin were asked to design a multifunctional but compact workspace that would breed great ideas, connecting people to the landscape and the incredible setting of a hillside walled garden attached to a ruined 16th century manor house.

We pushed our design further, proposing a garden room that met the brief but doubled as a standalone guest residence. Our design was inspired by the ruin, a magical space deep in the undergrowth, formed from abstract stone blocks and ivy-curtained windows. We nestled our space in the walls of the garden and framed it with striking concrete blocks. Despite its airy spaces and wide-reaching views, only subtle hints of the structure are visible during approach: a true secret garden.
